A Study of the Elements: Shape and Form
Combining Junior High and Upper Primary Classes
Students used the theme of Object Study to explore the use of different media and to learn about cubism. Their journey began with basic shapes, progressed through relief creations, and culminated in inspired works influenced by iconic artists.
Observational Drawing
Students observed various objects in the Art Studio, focusing on drawing from observation. Emphasis was placed on using tone to achieve a three-dimensional effect.
Low Relief Form
Building on their exploration of shapes, students created low reliefs using foam and cardboard. These works introduced texture and depth, connecting their studies to cubist art principles.
Junior High Wooden Blocks
Junior High students crafted wooden block reliefs to explore basic shapes and forms.
Still Life
Inspired by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, students studied color theory and created cubist-inspired watercolor still life paintings.
